STRATA MEETING SEPTEMBER 11TH 2017

Meeting called to Order at 7pm.

The Colonial Strata Council has accepted the resignation of our Treasurer Mr. Robin Knowles. Robin has served the Strata Council and the Owners of The Colonial in an exemplary fashion for the past 11 years. Robin’s attention to detail extended to the book work, the budgeting and his fiscal responsibility has allowed The Colonial to have some of the best financial portfolio’s in a self-managed strata.
We thank Robin for his years of service and hope that he relaxes and enjoys his retirement from Council.

With the retirement of Mr. Robin Knowles, the Strata Council made some position changes going forward. Mr. Erik Nielsen has taken on the responsibility of Treasurer of which we are certain that Erik will take on his new position as wholeheartedly as he does any job within the Colonial complex. In order for Erik to assume the Treasurers role, he had to resign as Vice President according to the Strata Property Act Bylaw 13(2). Council is pleased that Mr. George Crysler has volunteered to take on the role of Vice President, to which we are confident that George will serve the community well in his new position.

Treasurers Report: Mr. Erik Nielsen discussed the accounting program he is going to use and along with that discussion the budget was reviewed by Council as a whole. There have been no unforeseen expenses other than ones that had already been budgeted for. Motion to accept the Treasurers Report as read by Sharon Bull, seconded by Ken Hall.

Old Business:
-Patio decks and posts were completed.
-Council continues to get pricing for the road repairs.
-Sump pump cleaning will take place later into Fall.

New Business:
-Renewed landscaping contract.
-In the process of signing a snow removal contract.
-Gutter cleaning will commence in the Fall.
Council continues to ask that Owners be vigilant in keeping car doors and windows locked at all times and leave no items of value, coins, cameras, cell phones in your car. Thank you to Owners who have been vigilant in detering transient persons to leave our property or the RCMP will be called to deal with them. We want the message to be this is private property and we don’t permit strangers to roam our property as they see fit.

Council received a flyer handout for FREE SCRAP METAL REMOVAL!! This is a great service to take advantage of. You can call Bill at #778-230-2347.

Motion to adjourn at 8:30pm by Sharon Bull and seconded by George Crysler.

Next Strata Meeting will be October 10th 2017 at 7pm in the Clubhouse.
