SMITHRITE TO FINE FOR PLASTIC BAGS IN ORGANICS
THE STRATA COUNCIL CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH TO NOT PUT PLASTIC GROCERY STORE BAGS INTO THE ORGANICS BIN UNLESS IT IS A COMPOSTABLE BAG. IF YOU CHOOSE TO PUT YOUR ORGANICS IN A GROCERY STORE PLASTIC BAG AND EMPTY IT INTO THE ORGANICS AND THEN DISPOSE OF THE BAG (IF CLEAN) INTO THE PLASTICS BINS OR (IF NOT CLEAN) PLACE INTO THE GARBAGE BIN.
COUNCIL IS GOING TO ORDER A SECOND PICK UP PER WEEK TO ENSURE THAT THE ORGANICS BIN IS NOT OVERFLOWING. SHOULD SMITHRITE CONTINUE TO SEE PLASTIC GROCERY STORE BAGS IN THE ORGANICS BIN, A FINE FROM SMITHRITE WILL BE FORTHCOMING. COUNCIL IS VERY FRUSTRATED WITH THIS ONGOING PROBLEM AND HOPES THAT THE OFFENDING OWNER/OWNERS WILL ADHERE TO THE GUIDELINES THAT WE ALL MUST FOLLOW. WE THANK OWNERS FOR THEIR COOPERATION IN THIS IMPORTANT MATTER.
-IF AN OWNER HAS EXCESSIVE CARDBOARD BECAUSE YOU MIGHT HAVE PURCHASED NEW FURNITURE OR ITEMS FOR YOUR HOME, COUNCIL REQUESTS YOU TAKE THAT LARGE AMOUNT OF CARDBOARD TO THE RECYCLING DEPOT DIRECTLY. THE CARBOARD BINS ARE FOR SMALLER ITEMS, CARDBOARD MUST BE FLATTENED. TO KEEP WITHIN THE GUIDELINES THAT THE RECYCLING DEPOT EXPECTS FROM OUR CURBSIDE PICKUP SERVICE, WE CANNOT ACCOMODATE LARGER AMOUNTS OF CARDBOARD.
WIND STORM DAMAGES AT THE COLONIAL
As Owners can see the recent wind storm left us with a fallen tree and damaged fence panels at the rear of the property. Due to Councils forethought in this area, they asked Owners with vehicles parked in those areas to relocate their vehicles elsewhere on the property, which as it happened prevented definite damage to these vehicles. The cutting down and trimming of these trees has been completed with wood chipping to be done as soon as possible. To Owners who park on the rear fence line, once the wood chipping has been completed, Council asks that all your vehicles resume parking in your rented stalls at the rear of the property.
CHRISTMAS SEASON AND VISITOR PARKING
Council asks that with the upcoming holiday season that all Owners are reminded to park in their designated carport stalls, with secondary vehicles being parked in rented stalls or out on the road.
Council will tow vehicles where Owners have disregarded this warning. Keep in mind that everyone wants to enjoy the holiday season, and Council does not wish to police this situation and hope that all Owners will keep that in mind.
COLD WEATHER TIPS
With the arrival of cold weather and some definite frosty days, its important to wipe your window sills during the winter months. Keep a window open a crack in one or more rooms, to allow for circulation and air flow to keep your windows and sills dry. Ventilation all year round is important but especially during the winter season.
Motion to adjourn at 8pm by Robin Knowles and seconded by Linda Saari.
Next Strata Meeting January 4th 2016 at 7pm.
The Colonial Strata Council wishes Owners a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
